John COGGINS
John William COGGINS was my mother's father's mother's father.
He was born about 1828.
He married Elizabeth CAVIL 5 December 1847 at St Philip and Jacob parish church.
He lived at 1 Braggs lane in 1861 and 1871.
He was accidentally killed at work 3th December 1876 by falling through a hole in the first floor onto the basement floor of Messrs Leonard's Warehouse, Nelson Street.

FATAL ACCIDENT
At the Royal Infirmary, on the body of John Coggins, aged 48, a mason's labourer, who met with his death on the morning of the previous day, at Messrs Leonard and Co.'s new warehouse, now in process of erection in Nelson street. The evidence showed that the deceased was working in an upper story at about seven o'clock, and upon crossing the floor fell down a trap, through which material is drawn up for use of the workmen. He was picked up from the ground floor, to which he had fallen, and conveyed to the Infirmary, but life was extinct before his arrival there. The jury returned a verdict of "Accidental death".
